Situated south of Chicago’s main river artery is the district known as the South Loop. The name evolved from the path in which cable cars rode across the area in the late 19th century. The gridiron gateway of Soldier Field sits within the South Loop on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Da Beloved Bears made the stadium in a park their football den in 1971 and today it stands as the oldest stadium in the NFL.
